Happy Memorial Day

While meant for those who’ve gone on before us, I’d still like to take a moment and thank those still among us.  I’d also like to thank & remember the families of soldiers as well.  While they may not be shot at, their lives have to be hell while their loved ones are.  Living without that soldier at home, working to keep the family together, moving from place to place and just the sheer worry involved makes those families worth honoring as well.

For those who have already departed, we do remember, we do care, we do respect you & we do thank you for doing what you did.  For those still here & still fighting for us, our freedoms and our future- we care, remember, respect & thank you as well.

No title

Today sucked like none other.

No, no patients croaked and nobody was on *my* ass about anything, but there is unrest and I will leave it at that.

Not to mention, a patient made a grievance about a CNA, who happens to be my cousin and I had to write it up and I knew what would happen.

And it did and now my cousin no longer has a job and *I* feel like shit about it.

I shot up a box of 38’s…didn’t help and I only put 12 of the frickin things where I wanted them.

I’m trying vodka now.

Something has gotta give somewhere…

Is that a banana in your pocket?

Or are you just happy to see me?

We’ve all heard it/used it/been amused by it.

Well, today one of my favorite old fellas stopped me and was talking to me.  Being a nurse and being in state window, I was doing a head-to-toe assessment…

Face clean & shaven, hair clean & brushed, clothes neat & clean, fingernails clipped and clean, …scan to feet….

Whoa Nellie!  Is that?  Could it be?  Surely not.  No way.  And I literally think to myself, “Dang Mr. P, is that a banana in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”.

And I let it go, checked the feet & kept talking.

“Sugar, would you help me straighten out my blanket?”.

O.o  It’s in his lap….covering um, well, THAT and he wants me to “adjust” it?

“Sure Mr. P.”.  Deep breath and pull back the cover…

And lo & behold….

He’d put his banana from breakfast in his lap to take back to his room.

So, now we know the answer to that age-old question.

I Lived

And it’s back to busy.  Worked Wed-Fri, full days.  Took Molly to the movies last night to celebrate an outstanding report card and being named Super Tiger at school.

Working a few hours this morning to make up some of the time I missed Monday/Tuesday.

Going to a cook-out at a friend’s house tonight when the husband gets home from work.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention HE GOT BACK ON DAY SHIFT!!!  I can’t begin to tell you how happy that’s made me!

Due to farting around in class, the Boy has summer school.  The Girl has a job.  I’ve got 2 weeks and my 90 probation period ends.  I guess they plan to keep me, as they brought me insurance/retirement info yesterday to fill out.

Aside from the snooting, snotting & coughing, life is good.

Shoo-bop sha wad-da wad-da yipp-it-y boom de boom

You might recognize those lyrics if you’re a Grease fan (the play, NOT the movie).  They’re from the song We Go Together.

I was thinking of things that do NOT go together earlier…

Milk & fevers.

Chocolate & stuffed jalapenos.

Flu & menstrual cycles.

Sneezing & diarrhea.

Sand fleas & beach weddings.

Peanut butter & turnip greens.

Droopy boobs & doggie style sex.  (Oh, the chafing!!!)

There’s more, but they’re worse…

See what happens when I’m too sick to work & don’t eat very much over the course of 3 days?

Dip da-dip da-dip doo-wop da doo-bee doo

Not dead…quite

It’s been brought to my attention that I’ve been “missing” lately & my current state of living was questioned.

I’m not dead…quite.  I feel like I’m about 1/2 inch away from it though.

The last few weeks have been unbelievably busy.  My weekends have been shot to shit by things like working, etc…

Top it all off with another perforated eardrum and a killer cold (?).

Fever, violent chills, earache, stuffy head, sore & achy everything.

I’ve stayed in bed almost all day today and hope I feel more like living tomorrow.

Y’all have a good one.

Happy Mother’s Day

Hope all you Moms out there had a very nice day.

I did.  The fam & I sneaked off to Helen.  It’s the first time we’ve been in 3 years and I was slightly dismayed.  I reckon the economy hasn’t been too kind to that little tourist trap.  Most of the nice shops have sold out to Ahab The A-rab types and they are selling cheap junk and t-shirts.  The whole town needs a new coat of paint and a good cleaning, too.

Le sigh.

Guess we’ll have to find a new vacation spot for whenever we decide to go on vacation…
