Summer food safety

Attention!

As temperatures soar into the 100’s, I got to thinking about a very serious problem-

Your freezer may not be keeping your food frozen very well!

To test this, go to your freezer & remove your favorite ice cream flavor.

Let it sit on the counter for about 3-5 minutes.

If the ice cream is not as hard as a brick…

EAT IT ALL!  Your freezer isn’t working as well as it should, apparently!

This is very important, as you wouldn’t want to expose the rest of the members of your family to poorly frozen ice cream.

Just consider this a Snigs’ Spot PSA of the Day!

I used to buy Blue Bell (a Texas’ favorite) and watch in dismay as my kids swallowed the half gallon whole. One time I hid the Blue Bell inside an old container of diet off brand ice cream and that stuff lasted and lasted.

Pretty danged good for an old fart, huh?

Meh… one of the folks with me ordered an ice cream sandwich from a Gelato place today, and he got… and ice cream sandwich… An italian roll filled with ice cream. You should have SEEN his expression…LOL

I can imagine, as I think I just made the same expression.

Bob, Blue Bell is good. I tend to prefer Pet (Chocolate Moose Tracks- chocolate ice cream, chocolate fudge ribbons & peanut butter cups!). I try to buy 3 cartons each time- one for each kid, one for me and every time they’ll wipe out mine before they start on theirs. Someday, there will be a reckoning! Muahahahaha

Our daughter’s place lost power Saturday during a storm. That night, it was too hot in their house so they slept over at the other G’parents place. However, they brought their perishable food to us since we have an extra frig mostly empty—including all their ice cream. If they don’t pick it up quick, they’ll have a lot less to take home. 😉

Well Crucis, if it was unrefrigerated for an hour or so, it really could have gone bad- not the broccoli, cabbage or any of that stuff, but the ice cream, ice cream sandwiches, frozen pies & desserts…that stuff goes bad REALLY fast, so for their health, you might better nibble it up now!
