The New Style Southern Dinner

I still feel whipped like a rented mule from Friday, but I managed to get the chores done and fix a pretty decent Sunday dinner.  Two years ago, the chicken would have been fried, there would have been a chunk of cured ham in the peas, the broccoli would have been swimming in butter, the deviled eggs would have been made with high calorie mayo, and the Jell-o & pudding would have been the heavily sugared variety.

Not anymore though- grilled chicken, turkey bacon in the peas, I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter spritzed broccoli, olive oil mayo in the deviled eggs, sugar free Jell-o with no sugar added mandarin oranges and sugar free pudding.  Oh, and a White Wheat roll.

Funny thing is- it all disappears just as fast as the not-good-for-us variety of dinner did in the past. 😉

Nice spread, Mrs. Snigs. If you serve it, they will eat…well, I would, minus brussel sprouts.

You don’t have to worry about that, RT. I’m not a brussel sprout fan and the kids hate them. I don’t like asparagus, artichokes, nor radishes. 😉
